Crighton’s successfully delivered the $1.5M Dawson River Pump Station project in Theodore, Queensland, a complex water infrastructure project involving the design, construction and installation of a complete river intake and pumping facility for Theodore Water.
The Dawson River Pump Station project was a significant infrastructure development undertaken by Crighton’s for Theodore Water, involving the delivery of a complete pumping facility from the river inlet through to connection with the new 1200NB FBE rising main. The project showcased Crighton’s ability to manage and execute complex water infrastructure works across multiple disciplines, including engineering, fabrication, civil construction, structural installation and mechanical assembly.
The scope of works included a detailed design review and submission of the final design, structural piling works, design and construction of sheet pile retaining walls for the pump station and crane pad, and the installation of structural galvanised piers and galvanised X-beams extending down the riverbank and out over the water. Crighton’s also completed the assembly and installation of rail assemblies and mounting systems, along with the installation of three incline slope-mounted, electric-driven axial flow pumps with capacities of 120M/D, 60M/D and 30M/D.
Additional works included the design, fabrication and installation of the control room mounting system, maintenance platforms and access walkways, structural steel works, delivery pipework installation, flow meter installations, and construction of an engineered maintenance gantry. All crane operations, piling works and earthworks were completed by Crighton’s, with the team managing the challenging construction requirements associated with working within and around the river environment.
Completed under a contract value of approximately $1.5M, the project commenced in November 2025 and was delivered in March 2026. The successful completion of the Dawson River Pump Station demonstrates Crighton’s capability to deliver large-scale, technically complex water infrastructure projects while integrating design, fabrication, construction and installation expertise into a single coordinated delivery solution.
